Q

I want to set up a disposer, what should I do?

Last Updated October 15, 2021

Water supply and sewerage
A

We ask that you refrain from installing a single disposer (direct input disposer).

If kitchen garbage is crushed and drained into sewer pipes, it may accumulate in the sewer pipes, increase the load on the water reclamation center, and reduce the processing function.

Also, in the combined sewerage area, crushed materials may flow out into rivers and the sea on rainy days.

Based on the above, we are requesting self-restraint, but based on the "Disposer Wastewater Treatment System Performance Standards (draft) for Sewerage (March 2013) created by the Japan Sewerage Association, the evaluation organization evaluated conformity. About thing which we did, we can install.

This system is a system that crushes kitchen garbage, treats wastewater and then drains it to the sewer, and many manufacturers have certified products.

In addition, in order to install this system, along with the submission of the "Drainage Equipment Plan Confirmation Application" based on the Yokohama City Sewerage Ordinance, appropriate maintenance based on the "Yokohama City Disposer Wastewater Treatment System Handling Guidelines" is required.
