Business Core City

The business core city was established as a legal system in 1988 (Showa 63) by the Multipolar Dispersion National Land Formation Promotion Act, and the regional structure of the Tokyo metropolitan area against the backdrop of major metropolitan problems such as housing problems and remote commuting. Fostering and maintenance has been promoted from the perspective of balancing the dependence on the Tokyo metropolitan area from one extreme dependence on the Tokyo metropolitan area. In 1993, Yokohama City formulated the Yokohama Business Core City Basic Plan in 1993, forming a multi-centered urban structure close to work and residence, expanding and strengthening the city center, and promoting central management functions such as the head office functions of government agencies and companies. We are working on community development as a business core city.
