The city, together with Kanagawa Prefecture and related cities around the base, has requested the national and U.S. forces to eliminate aircraft noise around the base, including night continuous take-off and landing training (NLP) for U.S. aircraft carrier-based aircraft at Atsugi base. I have.
The main noise problem in Motoichi is caused by a U.S. aircraft carrier-based aircraft passing over the city when taking off and landing at Atsugi Base, about 2 km west of Seya-ku, Yokohama City. .
The city, together with Kanagawa Prefecture and related cities around the base, has requested the national and U.S. forces to eliminate aircraft noise around the base, including night continuous take-off and landing training (NLP) for U.S. aircraft carrier-based aircraft at Atsugi base. I have. On the other hand, in February 2002, the government stated that "as many NLPs as possible will be implemented on Iwo Jima," and in May of the same year, the U.S. military announced that the demonstration flight that had been conducted at Atsugi base would be "permanently abolished."
In May 2006, during the reorganization of the U.S. Forces in Japan, 59 aircraft carrier-based aircraft, which are the main causes of noise damage, will be transferred from Atsugi Airfield to Iwakuni Airfield by 2014, and permanent training facilities will be decided by the Cabinet in July 2009 or as soon as possible thereafter.
However, in January 2013, the time when carrier-based aircraft could be transferred from the Minister of Defense to the prefectures of the Atsugi Base Noise Countermeasures Council was three years later than originally scheduled 2014, It was shown that it will be around 29 (2017). In response to this, in May 2013, the government, etc. will provide information to local governments on specific schedules and progress of relocation, prospects for the development of permanent training facilities, noise reduction until relocation, etc. As a framework, the "Council on Transfer of Carrier-based Aircraft from Atsugi Airfield" was established.
In 2022, 35 complaints about aircraft noise were sent to the city.
