Yokohama refrigerated warehouse located in Minato Mirai 21 Shinko district.

In 1989, when the Yokohama Exposition commemorating the 130th anniversary of the municipal administration's 100th anniversary of the opening of the port was held, the Kanagawa Milk Plant and the Yokohama refrigerated warehouse, which had hindered the Minato Mirai 21 business, were shown, and both facilities were later returned by providing an alternative warehouse to the Yokohama North Dock.

In the Negishi residential area, etc., the impact of the terrorist attacks in the United States led to an increase in the burden on local residents, including strict restrictions on traffic inside the facility and the use of citizens.

Construction of U.S. military family housing by the State

Regarding the construction of houses in the Ikego residential area and the Yokohama city area of the Navy auxiliary facility, the Japan-US agreement was reached in October 2004, the basic layout plan was drafted in August 2006, and the basic concept was presented by the government in June 2007. In response, Motoichi requested consideration for the natural environment and implementation of surrounding environmental measures.
In September 2010, based on the fact that more than five years have passed since the agreement in 2004, discussions were held on reexamination of the number of housing construction units, and as an immediate measure, about 400 units were relocated to the Negishi residential area. It was agreed in Japan and the United States to construct about 400 units, and in July 2011, about 5 units were presented as a basic units.
On the other hand, in November 2011, based on the request made in 2006 and 2007, Motoichi made a request to the country for the newly presented basic placement plan. .
At the Japan-US Joint Committee in November 2018, it was agreed to cancel the construction of family housing.

Return of Koshiba Oil Storage Facility and Tomioka Warehouse Area

Former Koshiba Oil Storage Facility
Aiming to maintain it as a city park, we are working on the use of the former Koshiba oil storage facility.


In 2005, Japan and the United States agreed to return the entire land area (53 hectares) of Koshiba oil storage facility and some of the restricted water areas, and the first large-scale return since the Yokohama Seaside Residential Area (71 hectares) in 1982.
In 2009, the 150th anniversary of the opening of Yokohama Port, the Tomioka Warehouse District (2.9 hectares) was returned. In addition to facilities subject to the Japan-US agreement, a part of the Yokohama North Dock (2.7 hectares) has been returned.

Return of Fukaya Communication Station and Kamiseya Communication Facility

About facility where partial return was agreed in 2004, the whole area of Fukaya communication facility was returned in June, 2014.
In June 2015, the entire area of Kamiseya communication facility was returned.
