Requisition after the war and return of urban areas (from 1945 to 1961)
The status of requisition by allied forces stationed after World War II in 1945. I would like to introduce the status of the exercise for the requisition of Yokohama City.
Progress of urbanization and base problems (from 1962 to 1989)
The burden on citizens' lives due to the presence of bases during the high growth period from the late 1980s. In addition, we will introduce incidents, accidents and noise issues related to the U.S. military.
For early return and reduction of burden (from 1989)
Return of Yokohama refrigerated warehouse, Kanagawa Milk Plant, construction of U.S. military family housing by the country agreed in 2004. In addition, we will introduce the return of the Koshiba oil storage facility, the first large-scale return in a quarter century.
Progress of the Japan-U.S. Dialogue from 2015 to 2016
This section introduces the contents of discussions on the reorganization of U.S. military facilities and areas in Kanagawa Prefecture, which began in 2003 and agreed by the Japan-US Joint Committee in October 2004.
About housing construction by the government
At the Japan-US Joint Committee in October 2004, it was agreed on the construction of houses in the Ikego residential area and the Navy auxiliary facility (Yokohama city area).
In addition, at the Japan-US Joint Committee in November 2018, the construction of houses in the Ikego residential area and the Navy auxiliary facility (Yokohama city area) was canceled due to mutual agreement. I would like to introduce the progress of this project.
Requisition and Reconstruction of Yokohama as seen in the video
The requisition of Yokohama began with the occupation of the Allied Forces in August 1945.
A wide range of requisitions, including port facilities and central city areas, have delayed the reconstruction and reconstruction of Yokohama.
Until now, we have promoted initiatives for return as an important issue of municipal administration, realized many returns, and utilized the site in town development in Yokohama.
