In Yokohama City, based on the "Summary of Town Development Utilizing History" enforced in 1988, in Yokohama City, modern architecture, Western-style buildings, old private houses, civil engineering industrial heritage, etc. have been certified as buildings.
This time, two new cases have been certified, the Western-style building "Yamate 69-6" and "Yamate 267". Yamate was designated as a settlement in 1867 (Keio 3), and since then, Western-style buildings, schools, and churches where foreigners live have been lined up, forming a cityscape. The Western-style building is a symbol of Yamate's uniqueness, but this time there are a total of 22 certified Western-style buildings in the district.
