In Yokohama City, based on the "Town Development Guidelines Utilizing History" enforced in 1988, modern architecture, Western-style buildings, old private houses, civil engineering industrial heritage, etc. are certified as Yokohama City in order to preserve the historical landscape. Has been certified as a historical building.
This time, two new cases have been certified: the Western-style building "Yamate 69-6" and the "Yamate 267th building". Yamate was designated as a settlement in Keio 3 (1867), and since then, Western-style buildings, schools, churches, etc., where foreigners live, formed a cityscape. The Western-style building is a symbol of Yamate's uniqueness, but this time, a total of 22 certified Western-style buildings in the district have been certified.
