Comments from designers

・Characteristics of buildings and overall evaluation
The existing student toilet was located near the center of the school, and it was a toilet space that was 4.5m deep and 6.5m deep 6.5m deep. Therefore, it is possible to have an internal layout according to the needs, finding out the problems of the existing internal layout, significantly changed the layout, and incorporating the opinions of the student council.
As a result, we were able to realize a bright, clean and comfortable toilet space that could not be found in other schools.

・About the difficulty of design
During the design process, we struggled to reflect the proposals at the time of the proposal, drawing up opinions from the student council using a questionnaire method, obtaining consent from school officials for the proposal, switching from the Yokohama City renovation standard, etc. I felt painful.
As a future task, we will set up a facility improvement committee consisting of students and school staff, and we hope to raise awareness of school facilities not only for toilets but also on the school side.
In addition, in the case of this case, I really hope that you will be involved not only in design but also in the supervision work.

・Ingenuity in design
For the comfort of the toilet, we made the following proposals and tried our ingenuity to realize it.
→Design and installation of blindfold function walls with hooks, bulletin boards, decorative shelves, and paper shelves
→The idea of blindfolding at the entrance of the toilet from the corridor
→A spacious toilet booth (W1050 x D1450) with consideration for space for entering and exiting and use.
→Large lining space convenient for putting things on top deck
→Adoption of ultra-pollution flooring materials
→Counter-type washbasin which is hard to get wet
× Bench, snork (fitteing board) for changing clothes, and wall-mount stools are not adopted

・Devising to reduce design costs
Not to mention the adoption of water-saving toilets, LED lighting with motion sensors, etc., we tried to shorten the construction period and reduce costs by using a dry construction method.
In addition, while listening to the opinions of the students, we selected colors (woodgrain) that would create “comfortableness” without cost. We believe that this will stimulate the sense of "let's use cleanly" and will lead to significant cost reductions in various aspects.
