Theme of the lecture

[From the Great Kanto Earthquake and the ruins of Yokohama to the reconstruction]

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Great Kanto Earthquake that occurred on September 1, 1923 (Daisho 12).
In Yokohama, more than 35,000 houses collapsed and burned down, and more than 26,000 people died or lost, but through subsequent reconstruction projects, the framework of the city connected to the present was created. .
In this lecture, we will examine how Yokohama, which has become a mountain of rubble, has been reconstructed, examine the disaster situation at the time of the earthquake, and introduce reconstruction projects centered on public buildings.
