If a large-scale earthquake occurs, fire hydrants may not be usable due to damage to the water pipe. For this reason, in addition to fire hydrants, a variety of fire-fighting water tanks, rivers, ponds, etc., which are effective for firefighting activities, are required.
In Yokohama-shi, we perform maintenance of fire prevention water tank premeditatedly, but because securing of setting site becomes difficult every year, we established "firefighting water supply facility setting subsidy grant system" and April, 2005 Started on 1st.

Firefighting and irrigation facilities installation subsidy grant system
For those who are going to build fire-resistant buildings in a certain area (maintenance area) where the amount of water for fire-resistant buildings other than fire hydrants is insufficient in Yokohama city, and who can install underground water tank (more than 40m3) It is system to issue subsidy, and water supply facilities targeted for subsidy grant and subsidy are as follows.
(Except when the installation of fire-fighting facilities is required by the provisions of other laws and regulations, and when subsidies are subsidized by other systems for the installation of the fire-fighting facilities.)
Water use facilities subject to subsidies
・Water conduit
・Underground water tank
・Water tanks that also serve as water sources for firefighting equipment or special firefighting equipment installed based on the Fire Services Act.
・Other fire-fighting facilities deemed necessary by the Fire Department Director

Development area
We classify the city with a 500-meter mesh, classify each mesh into five levels of fire spread risk ranks, determine the required amount of water for each fire spread risk rank, and work on securing the amount of water required for earthquake fires.
We will carry out maintenance for meshes where the total amount of existing fire-fighting water sources other than the fire hydrant owned by each mesh is less than this standard water volume.
