Last update date July 18, 2024

"Konro" is the worst cause of fire in a house fire.

The stove is the most common cause of fire in house fires that occurred in the city, and the course of the fire is "leave / forget", "flammable materials move and touch the fire source", "unproper use (cleaning maintenance, etc.) ".

In order to prevent a stove fire

Measures 1 Let's not leave the place when you turn on the fire!

Illustration that broke out while I was leaving the fire source

The most common history of a stove fire is "leave / forget".
<Examples of fire that occurred in the past>

  • When I was making pork boiled, I fell asleep, and over time, the contents of the pot became carbonized and became empty, and a fire broke out.
  • After igniting the gas stove to heat a pot containing cooking oil to make fried food, a phone call was received. When I left the place, the cooking oil overheated and a fire broke out.

In this way, many stove fires are caused by carelessness of the user.

Measures 2 Let's clean the area around the stove and grill frequently!

If the oil stain on the stove is left unattended, the sticky dirt and oil may be heated and cause a fire.
Placing flammable objects around it can also lead to a fire.
In order to prevent fire, please take regular care of it.

Measures 3 Beware of "clothing ignition"!

Lighting on the clothing you are wearing is called "clothing ignition."
Burning can lead to severe burns and fatal accidents.
<Points to prevent clothing and ignition>

  • When cooking, avoid loose clothes and wide cuffs.
  • Adjust the thermal power so that the flame does not protrude from the bottom of the pot.
  • Attach an arm cover or an apron that has been flameproofed (*).

〈Improved〉 If the clothes are on fire…〉
In the unlikely event that the flame burns to your clothing, take off your clothes quickly, pour water, or hit it with a towel to extinguish.
If you are unable to reach your back, etc., extinguish the fire with a shower if there is a bathroom nearby.
If you cannot extinguish the fire with water, fall down on the spot and roll left and right to extinguish the fire.

Let's use the Si sensor stove!

A Si sensor stove is a stove equipped with the following three safety devices on all burners.
<Safety device for Si sensor stove

    • "Cooking oil overheating prevention device" that detects abnormal overheating at the bottom of the pot and automatically extinguishes the fire
    • When the fire is extinguished due to boiling, etc., it shuts off the gas when the fire goes out due to a boil.
    • "Forget extinguish fire extinguishing function" that extinguishes the fire of the stove and grilled fish in a certain period of time

In case of emergency, automatic digestion prevents fire.
Only one of the multiple burners may have a temperature sensor.
When cooking fried food, be sure to use a burner with a temperature sensor.

Smoke is generated before the cooking oil ignites, so installing a fire alarm (smoke type) for homes is also effective to prevent fires during cooking.

5 Let's use portable gas stove correctly!

Cassette stoves are easy to carry and convenient tools, but improper use can lead to serious accidents.
When using it, check the handling method carefully and use it correctly.
    <Dangerous use>

    • An old gas cartridge, gas cassettes that does not fit the cassette stove is used.

→There is a risk of gas leakage or explosion.

    • Used for purposes other than cooking (such as charcoal and briquette fire).

→The gas cartridge, gas cassettes may overheat and cause an explosion.

    • Do not use large cooking utensils that cover the stove.

→Heat of cooking utensils can be transmitted to gas cartridge, gas cassettes and explode.

    • Two or more units are used side by side.

→There is a risk of heat and the gas cartridge, gas cassettes may overheat or explode.

Be careful when handling gas torches!

Many fires have occurred due to improperly installed gas cartridge, gas cassettes.

    What is Gas Torch?

A simple gas burner connected to gas cartridge, gas cassettes.
It is a useful tool if used correctly, but it is dangerous to use it incorrectly.
When using, check the handling method carefully and check in advance.

    Preventive measures

・Please check the handling method carefully.
Although it is a simple product, the functions and performance vary depending on the product, so read the instruction manual carefully.
    ・Let's check it in advance.
The gas cartridge, gas cassettes may not be properly installed, so be sure to check it before use.
    ・Beware of old cylinders
Do not use corroded or deformed, as gas leaks may occur due to old and deteriorated cylinders.

Is an electric cooker (IH cooker, electric stove, electric cooking heater, etc.) safe?

Speaking of "Konro fire", many people imagine a fire from a gas stove that actually uses fire, and many people think that "fire will not occur from electric cookers that do not use fire, such as IH stoves."
However, electric cookware that does not emit flames are characterized by being less difficult to tell whether the power is turned on compared to gas stoves.
In the past stove fires, there are cases where fires have started from an electric cooker, so you can't be alert just because you do not use fire.

The number of "Konro Fire" at restaurants is increasing.

It is thought that stove fires in houses have been decreasing due to the spread of Si sensor stoves and residential fire alarms.
On the other hand, it is presumed that stoves such as restaurants and stores often cause fires because many large stoves do not have safety equipment.
Follow the precautions introduced so far, such as not leaving the side during use, turning off the switch after use, and tidying the surroundings.

Although stoves are indispensable for daily life, most of them are fires due to carelessness of the user. Take this opportunity to think again about fire prevention from the stove again.
