What is the Sports Promotion Committee?
The Sports Promotion Committee is a part-time public servant commissioned by the The Mayor of Yokohama based on the Basic Act on Sports and the rules of the Yokohama Sports Promotion Committee. Aiming for each and every citizen to get acquainted with sports and recreation activities in their daily lives, we are planning, drafting, and implementing sports businesses and disseminating them based on the community. .
The term of office is two years, and members of the 34th term (from April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2025) are currently active.
In the past, we have been active as a "physical education council", but with the revision of the Sports Promotion Law, the name was changed to "Sports Promotion Committee" on August 24, 2011.
About Aoba Ward sports promotion committee communication meeting
As of June 1, 2024, there were 177 sports promotion committee members in Aoba Ward. In addition to independent business to perform according to 15 districts in ward, we hold inhabitant of a ward ground golf meet, and cooperate with management of large-scale sports events held in Yokohama city.

I would like to introduce the main events of the Aoba Ward Sports Promotion Committee.

In April, the beginning of the term of office, a letter of commission will be held to the chairman of each district and newly appointed members.

"Inhabitant of a ward ground golf meet" is big event hosted by Aoba Ward sports promotion committee!
Every June, about 100 participants are recruited and held, and it is an event that has been well received by local people.

As part of its public relations activities, Aoba Ward publishes Sports Aoba. A committee member is writing an article. It is also distributed to residents' facilities such as district centers.
