What is the Sports Promotion Committee?
The Sports Promotion Committee is a "part-time civil servant" commissioned by the The Mayor of Yokohama based on the Basic Sports Law and the Yokohama Sports Promotion Committee Rules. Aiming to become familiar with sports and recreation activities in their daily lives, each and every citizen conducts planning, drafting, implementing, and disseminating sports businesses based on the community.
The term of office is two years, and currently members of the 34th term (from April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2025) are currently active.
In the past, it was active as a "physical education councilor", but with the revision of the Sports Promotion Law, the name was changed to "Sports Promotion Committee" on August 24, 2011.
About Aoba Ward sports promotion committee communication meeting
As of June 1, 2023, 177 sports committee members are active in Aoba Ward. In addition to voluntary business to be conducted according to 15 districts in the city, we also hold inhabitant of a ward ground golf tournament and cooperate with the operation of large-scale sporting events held in Yokohama.

In April, the beginning of the term of office, a letter of commission will be held for each district chairman and newly appointed committee members.

"Inhabitant of a ward ground golf meet" is big event hosted by Aoba Ward sports promotion committee!
Every year in June, about 100 participants are recruited and held, and this event has been well received by local people.

Public relations paper "Sports Aoba"
Aoba Ward publishes Sports Aoba as part of its public relations activities. A committee member is writing an article. It is also distributed to residents' use facilities such as district centers.
