Last Updated December 27, 2022

In Yokohama City Council, City Council Bureau and Board of Education Secretariat co-hosted a "Visit Visit to City Counsil by Yokohama City High School Students" in order to increase their ability to participate in society and politics and to raise awareness of sovereignty among young people, who are 18 years old.
Participating were 25 students from six schools, Sakuragaoka, Tozuka, East, South, Yokohama Science Frontier, and Yokohama Commercial.
This year, Nana Takamatsu (Representative Director of Shoshitamura Juku Co., Ltd.) and comedian Mitsuko will be invited as special guests, and a business trip class "Laughter! Through the Political Education Show, lectures were given on the significance of young people's proactive participation in society and politics, and the importance of taking action to change society.
The students presented serious opinions on the social issues they consider, such as "I want to solve the problem of young carers" and "I want to appeal for teachers' work style reform."
In the exchange of opinions with high school students and four members of the city council (Representative YAMAMOTO Takashi (LDP), Etsuko Hasegawa (The Constitutional Party), Kazuhiro Kubo (Komeito), and Tamio Kawaji (Communist Party)), various questions were asked about "education policy", "City planning in Yokohama", "maritime plastic", "The motivation and balance work and family members."
Among them, there were sharp questions such as "How do you decide to support those who have lost their jobs due to COVID-19?", "How do you think about solving the shortage of teachers and lawmakers?"
Students who talked about the future of Yokohama with members of the Diet said, "Parliament and politics were much more familiar than I expected." "Participation in elections is in changing my future. I was able to reconfirm that it was very important, "and" I can now imagine how we are involved in politics."

I learned from Nana Takamatsu and comedian Mitsuko, a comedian about the significance of politics, elections, democracy, etc., with laughter.

The high school students were divided into four groups and enthusiastically exchanged opinions with city council members on various topics.
