Doshi Water Source Forest Volunteer Project

 Yokohama City owns a water source forest in Michishi Village, Yamanashi Prefecture, and has been maintaining it systematically for over 100 years.
 However, some privately owned forests, which account for about 60% of the area of Michishi Village, are inadequately managed due to labor shortages, etc. There is a forest that is concerned.
 
 Since fiscal 2004, Water Works Bureau has been implementing the Doshi Water Source Forest Volunteer Project in collaboration with citizen volunteers to develop private forests.
 For the NPO Law Humanitarian Water Source Forest Volunteer Association and other citizen volunteer groups, thin conifers such as cedar and cypress in private forests in Michishi Village, broad-leaved forests and coniferous mixed forests with high water retention functions (Shinko Konkorin) ※We support the activities of conservation, a water source forest.

conservation subsidy program for volunteer groups and other activities

This is a subsidy program for conservation activities conducted by NPO corporations, volunteer groups such as companies and local communities (hereinafter referred to as "volunteer groups").

Details of the subsidy program

(1) Subsidy for activity funds
  Part of transportation expenses for thinning activities in private forests in Doshimura, which are carried out by volunteer groups and other organizations to apply to Water Works Bureau in advance and receive approval.
 We support 2,000 yen per person for each activity.

(2) Others
 ・The activities will be provided by Water Works Bureau in coordination with landowners of private forests in Michishi Village.
 ・If there is a shortage of tools, you can borrow them by applying in advance.

Organizations eligible for grant

The recipients of the grant are volunteer groups that meet the following conditions.
(1) conservation must be a volunteer organization for environmental conservation activities with at least 10 people.
(2) Being able to manage work safely and appropriately under a leader with knowledge and experience in conservation activities.
(3) Voluntary development of the conservation activity plan and the conservation activities can be carried out at least twice a year every year.
(4) For traffic accidents and accidents associated with work, you can take out accident insurance, etc. at your own risk and expense, bear your own responsibility and take necessary measures.

※The conservation activity period is from April to November.
※The application period for grant applications is from April to May every year.
※Activities and activities must be coordinated with the Water Works Bureau Water Source Forest Management Office.

About the NPO Law Humanitarian Shi Water Source Forest Volunteer Association

The NPO Humanitarian Volunteer Association is an organization that works with City of Yokohama, Water Works Bureau to promote Doshi Suwon Forest conservation activities.
The basic philosophy is that "we drink water and water source forests are protected and nurtured by our citizens and passed on to the next generation."

Depart from JR Kannai-sta.-kitaguchi by chartered bus around 8 o'clock and return around 19 o'clock (local assembly and local dissolution are also possible)

 Why don't you join and protect the forest of Doshi, where the water source "Doshi River" of Yokohama City flows?

 Those who live, work, or attend school in Yokohama city or neighboring areas (high school students and above) who can participate on the day of the association's activities

 Each individual and group depends on the category of members.
 Regular members: Individuals and organizations that agree with the purpose of the association and participate in the activities of the association.
 Supporting members: Individuals and organizations that support the purpose of the association and support the activities of the association (but not participating in activities).

Doshinomori Instructor Certification System (a system for members of the NPO Humanitarian Shi Water Source Forest Volunteer Association)

In Water Works Bureau, among the members of the NPO Law Humanitarian Forest Volunteer Association, those who hold certain qualifications are certified as "Doshi no Mori instructors."
Michishi no Mori Instructor, as the head of the work group that conducts conservation activities in Michishi Village's private forest, will mainly provide guidance on forest maintenance work and safety management.

Recruiting instructors

The NPO Humanitarian Shi Water Source Forest Volunteer Association is looking for those who will be active as Doshinomori instructors.
If you have qualifications that meet the certification criteria of the following items 1 to 3 or have experience in forestry, etc., please register.
※Qualifications and experiences will be confirmed on a certificate of completion or certificate.
