In Meiji 20 (1887), Japan's first modern water supply was born in Yokohama.
At the time of its establishment, the water supply route was from Mitsui-mura, Tsukui-gun (currently Midori-ku, Sagamihara-shi), at the confluence of the Sagami River and the Doshi River, where the water was taken, to the Nogeyama Water Purification Plant (currently Nogeyama Reservoir). It was about 44 km to).
In some sections of this water supply founding water supply headrace, Sagamihara-shi, Yamato-shi, Machida-shi and Yokohama-shi conclude agreement respectively, and are maintained as green paths and promenades.
Along the road, a signboard explaining the outline of the water supply facilities in an easy-to-understand manner was installed in 2007 to commemorate the 120th anniversary of the foundation of modern water supply. There are 26 installation locations on the headrace track at the time of its establishment.
On holidays, why don't you think about important water while walking along the green road and promenade?
