About appropriate breeding guidelines of Yokohama-shi cat

Last Updated December 12, 2023

We made "appropriate breeding guidelines of Yokohama-shi cat"

In Yokohama City, a densely populated residential area in urban areas, problems may occur in the area due to the damage of manure by cats without owners and cats, garbage fishing, and the increase in cats without owners. It is also a problem that irresponsible owners leave their cats for reasons such as moving.
In order to solve these problems, it is important for the owner to thoroughly breed domestic cats indoors. In addition, it is necessary to inform that throwing away domestic cats is a crime, and to thoroughly prevent abandoned cats.
Cats without owners will be considered as local environmental issues and we will aim to solve them. There is a way to solve the problem by conducting "local cat activities" with the understanding and consent of local residents while preventing the increase in the number of cats by TNR.
In Yokohama City, the "Law Concerning the Protection and Management of Animals" and the "Guidelines for the Proper Care of Dogs and Cats in densely populated Residential Areas" (created by the Ministry of the Environment) so that they can be used to solve and prevent problems caused by cats without owners and cats. Based on this, we have created the "Yokohama City Cat Proper Breeding Guidelines (PDF: 915KB)".
