About traffic rules concerning electric kickboard

 From July 1, 2023, of the laws that amend a part of the Road Traffic Law, the provisions on the traffic method of specific small motorized bicycles (electric kickboards, etc.) were enforced.
 To protect yourself and others' lives, be sure to correctly understand and comply with the traffic rules to be followed. Also, wear a riding helmet.

Main traffic rules that you should be aware of when driving an electric kickboard

Before driving an electric kickboard…

Driving is prohibited for those under 16 years of age!

 A driver's license is not required to drive an electric kickboard, but those under the age of 16 are not allowed to drive an electric kickboard. It is also forbidden to provide electric kickboards to those under 16 who may drive electric kickboards.

Drunk driving is prohibited!

 Do not drive the electric kickboard when you drink alcohol. In addition, we will provide electric kickboards for those who are drunk and may be drunk, provide alcoholic beverages to those who may drive drunk driving, Do not recommend.  

Let's wear a riding helmet!

 Electric kickboard drivers are obliged to wear a riding helmet. It is very important to protect your head to reduce the damage caused by traffic accidents. To protect your life, wear a riding helmet.

Two-seaters are prohibited!

 Electric kickboards must not be a two-seater.

Let's check and maintain the body!

 In order to use the electric kickboard safely, it is necessary to check it yourself before boarding. If there is a problem, do not get on the bus and start the maintenance.
In addition, let's go to dealers regularly to have them inspect and maintain. Do not drive an electric kickboard that does not conform to the standards stipulated by the Road Transport Vehicle Law.

When driving an electric kickboard…

Follow the signals and signs!

 Drivers are obliged to follow signs such as signals and pauses. Any violations will be subject to crackdown.

Turn right in two steps at the intersection with the traffic light!

 When turning right at an intersection with a traffic light, you must stop at the left end of the road and slow down along the side end of the intersection.

Let's drive with pedestrian priority!

 Do not block pedestrian traffic when passing by pedestrians or crossing pedestrian crossings.

The use of a smartphone while driving is a violation!

 Hold the handle with both hands firmly and look in front of you. It is a violation to look at the screen of your smartphone or drive while talking.

Don't leave it in public places such as roads!

 Yokohama City has designated areas where bicycles are not allowed to be left around the railway station. Electric kickboards (*) left in the area are also eligible for movement to the storage area.
