Is the biodegradability of the rinsing poor?
Last update date October 4, 2023
Biodegradability is considered to be relatively slow to decompose due to its chemical structure.
The rinse contains a cation surfactant, which is widely used in softeners for clothing. It is generally easy to adhere to hair and is used to prevent charging.
Regarding sewage treatment, we believe that most of them have been removed because the concentration measured in river water is very low.
It is thought that even if the biodegradability is low, it is possible to treat it because it is difficult to dissolve in water and its properties that are easily absorbed by other substances.
However, since cation surfactants have sterilized properties, they need to be familiar with microorganisms that perform sewage treatment (being able to take in and decompose them by becoming microorganisms to chemical substances). Using them in large quantities can affect the environment.
