Q1-2 What is pollution (typical 7 pollution)?
Last update date April 1, 2024
"Pollution" is the Basic Environmental Law (external site), which states that "a considerable range of (1) air pollution, (2) water pollution, (3) soil pollution, (4) noise, (5) vibration, (6) ground subsidence and (7) odor cause damage to human health or the living environment. " .
In general, "pollution" may be captured with a wider image, including sunshine obstruction and ventilation inhibition, but in the case of "pollution" by law, it refers to seven types of things from the above air pollution to bad smell . These are referred to as “typical seven pollution.”
Yokohama City accepts consultations when you are in trouble with these pollutions.

(6) Land subsidence
The ground subsides, causing damage to houses, etc., or the land is lower than the sea surface.
Anthropogenic causes include pumping of groundwater and the collection of resources such as minerals and natural gas.
(7) Bad smell
It is an "smell" that causes unpleasant thoughts generated from factories and business sites.
Odor is based on a subjective judgment of a person, so even a "smell" that is preferable for one person can be recognized as an odor for others.
