About earthquake disaster reconstruction bridge
The city of Yokohama was severely damaged by the Great Kanto Earthquake that occurred on September 1, 1923.
Along with reconstruction projects such as roads, rivers, canals, parks, etc. in Yokohama City, the Ookagawa River, Nakamurakawa, Horikawa River, and the Digwari River.
The bridges that can be seen were built with the full power of the then Imperial City Reconstruction Hospital (later the Ministry of Home Affairs Reconstruction Bureau) and Yokohama City.
They are called "earthquake reconstruction bridges."
There were a maximum of 178 earthquake reconstruction bridges, but they remained as they were at the time due to replacement due to aging.
There are 37 existing bridges.
