About earthquake disaster reconstruction bridge
Yokohama City was severely damaged by the Great Kanto Earthquake that occurred on September 1, 1923.
Along with reconstruction projects such as roads, rivers, canals and parks in Yokohama, the Okagawa River, Naka-Murakawa, Horikawa, and the digging river.
The bridges seen were built with the full power of the then Teito Reconstruction Institute (later the Reconstruction Bureau of the Ministry of Home Affairs) and Yokohama City.
These are called "earthquake reconstruction bridges."
There were a maximum of 178 bridges for reconstruction after the earthquake, but they were replaced due to aging.
There are 37 bridges that exist.
