Overview

 In the Nakayama-cho area of Midori Ward, many cars pass at a speed in the target section (in the zone 30 area and school road) avoiding the surrounding arterial roads, and it was difficult for pedestrians to cross at the pedestrian crossing. . In addition, the results of the analysis of ETC 2.0 Big Data confirmed that the speed was excessive, and it was dangerous for commuters and students and local residents, and it was necessary to take immediate action.
 In response to local issues, in 2018, we established the "Traffic Safety Measures Council" consisting of local residents and elementary schools, police, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, Yokohama City, etc., and decided to proceed with the examination of safety measures. .

Demonstration experiment (November 20, 2018 to December 17, 2018)

 In 2018, we exchanged opinions at the "Traffic Safety Measures Council" and conducted demonstration experiments (test construction of smooth pedestrian crossings, humps, etc.).

[What is a Smooth Crosswalk?]
Raising the pedestrian crossing to the height of the sidewalk makes it easier for drivers to recognize, reduce the speed of the car, and allow pedestrians to cross safely.

[What is Hamp?]
By installing a trapezoidal convex on the road, the speed of the car is reduced.

[What is narrow]
By narrowing the road, you can reduce the speed of the car by passing each other without passing each other.

[What is an intersection color pavement?]
By painting the inside of the intersection red, it alerts the driver.

This construction

 Since we were able to confirm the speed control effect of the demonstration experiment (smooth pedestrian crossing, test construction of humps, etc.), we exchanged opinions with local residents about the measures, and installed smooth pedestrian crossings and humps in March 2020 Did.

Results of effect verification

 Before, one month, three months, six months, one year and six months after the countermeasures, and one year and six months after the countermeasures, in order to verify that the speed control effect of the smooth installation of pedestrian crossings and humps was exhibited. We analyzed data of speed.
 It has been confirmed that the effect continues as of September 2021, one year and six months after the implementation of the measures.

  Zone 30 Plus is an area regulation "Zone 30" with a maximum speed of 30 km / h and "physical devices such as humps and smooth pedestrian crossings in order to further promote the development of safe and secure traffic spaces that prioritize people on living roads. This is an area where road managers and police are working together to improve traffic safety through appropriate combinations.
