3, Okurayama, Kouhoku-ku area
Last Updated August 29, 2022
Overview
The Okurayama 3-chome district in Kohoku-ku was an area with many accidents in Yokohama City. In addition, there are many cars that speed up the area and use the way out of the area, avoiding the main road, and it was dangerous for those who commute to school and local residents, and it was necessary to take immediate measures.
In response to local issues, in 2017, we established the “Vehicle Speed Control Measures Study Group” consisting of local residents and elementary schools, police, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, Yokohama City, etc., and examined safety measures for the Okurayama 3-chome area. I decided to proceed.

Demonstration experiment (October 5, 2017 to November 1, 2017)
In 2017, we exchanged opinions at the "Vehicle Speed Control Measures Study Group" and conducted a hump experience session and a demonstration experiment (test construction of humps, etc.).
Hump (convex portion)
Narrow
Hamp experience party
[What is Hamp?]
By installing a trapezoidal convex on the road, the speed of the car is reduced.
[What is narrow]
By narrowing the road, you can reduce the speed of the car by passing each other without passing each other.
This construction
Because we were able to confirm the speed control effect of the demonstration experiment (test construction of humps, etc.), we exchanged opinions with local residents about the measures and locations, and installed a hamp and a narrow fence in February 2019.

Results of effect verification
We continuously analyze data on vehicle driving speed before and after countermeasures in order to verify whether the speed control effect of installing humps and narrow fences has been exerted.

Reference: What is the 85% tile speed?
The 85% tile speed is the value of the speed that includes 85% of the total when the speed of the vehicle running in a section is arranged in a lower order. For example, if the driving speed of 100 cars is arranged in order from the lowest, it is the 85th speed (the 16th speed from the top). In addition to the average speed, there is 85% tile speed as an indicator of actual speed, and 85% tile speed is not a specific value, but `` 85% of vehicles traveling at that point are running below this speed, It is positioned as a speed limit that can be regarded as the upper limit of the speed of a vehicle running normally '' and a `` good indicator for the appropriate speed limit ''.
