Many people were affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake that occurred on March 11, 2011. We would like to express our deepest condolences to the many people who died in the Great East Japan Earthquake and their families, and to express our sincere condolences to those who have continued to suffer severe life after the disaster.

In June 2011, three months after the Great East Japan Earthquake, Yokohama City Library celebrated its 90th anniversary. The history of this museum cannot be talked about without the earthquake.
The history of Yokohama City Library begins with the commencement of reading books at the current temporary reading centers in Yokohama Park as part of a project to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the opening of the port and the 30th anniversary of the self-government system. However, just two years later, the Great Kanto Earthquake destroyed the entire building and collections.
In resuming operations after the earthquake, we received a lot of support, including the donation of books from citizens. After that, he moved to Noge, but also experienced war damage here, and after reconstructed with the city of Yokohama, it has continued to this day.
Looking back on the path of Yokohama City Library, which was in the history of Yokohama's reconstruction and development, we will clearly see the support of citizens and the appearance of the library that was in harmony with the local culture.
Based on this background, as a commemorative project to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the founding of the library, we aim to look back on the 90th anniversary of the library with citizens.…"Waseda" was held. Inspired by episodes and photographs recruited from citizens in advance, panelists on the stage and participants in the audience gave interesting memories one after another. Thanks to the participants who thought about the past history of Yokohama as seen from the eyes of the citizens, we were able to receive very well-received.

This collection of records contains the contents of two panel discussions held in June and October, as well as recruited episodes and photos. From the viewpoint of respect for human rights, expressions that need to be considered may be used, but it is important to leave the world and tide at the time of the reminiscence, make remarks in panel discussions, and respect the original text of the episode It is posted based on. In addition, we refuse to make the minimum necessary corrections and supplements at the library's responsibility.

Last but not least, I would like to thank the people who provided the episodes and photos, and those who participated in the panel discussion, and this collection of records will help further develop Yokohama and deepen their attachment to hometown Yokohama.
