Digital Archive Yokohama's Memory Usage Guide

This database allows Municipal Central Library to search for digital images, such as print materials, pictures, and postcards, by keywords and chronological tables, using Yokohama materials that it has accumulated so far as Yokohama's Memory equipment.

Introduced materials

The materials and information currently provided are as follows.

Search for Materials (advanced search of Materials)

Books

 It contains about 5,000 items, including materials related to Yokohama from the opening of the port to the Meiji period and administrative materials of Yokohama City. In addition, some materials such as "Yokohama City Bulletin" can also search table of contents information. . The table of contents will be added sequentially in the future.

Postcard

 In addition to the colored Yokohama postcard, it contains about 4,000 items, including postcards that record the earthquake and reconstruction.

Ukiyo-e

 It contains about 400 Ukiyo-e paintings depicting Yokohama from the opening of the port to the early Meiji era and about ukiyo-e paintings related to the Tokaido (Mishuku-ba in the city).

Pictorial maps, historical maps

 It contains about 200 items, including a picture map of the opening period and a map of the Great Kanto Earthquake.

Photo

 It contains about 2,500 photographs collected by the Yokohama City Library with the cooperation of local people that convey the past and present of the region. Photos of Aoba Ward are also available in the Aoba Ward Landscape Photography Database (external site).

Other images

 It contains about 400 items, such as images with a play number and illustrations from "Yokohama Port Opening Watching Magazine".

Search for chronological table (advanced search in chronological table)

 It contains 15,000 chronological tables included in the Yokohama History Chronicle (1953) compiled by the City of Yokohama, City Counsil, Yokohama Port, and landfill-related materials.

Table of Contents and Search for Articles (Table of Contents, advanced search in Articles)

 You can search the table of contents of books related to the history of Yokohama, such as "Yokohama Books and Culture" and "Yokohama City History Report", as well as Yokohama-related magazine articles such as "Survey Kiho" and "Citizen Graph Yokohama". In addition, about "book and culture of Yokohama", it is possible to search the full text.

 You can search for indexes of "Yokohama City History", "Yokohama City History II", and "Yokohama Books and Culture".

 It is an exhibition that can be seen on the Internet. It will be released in the future.

List of themes

 Materials are introduced according to themes such as "Tokaido Ukiyo-e" and "Town with Library / Noge".

About the use of images

 An application for use is required to publish, broadcast or display images recorded in this archive. Please note the following points when submitting the application form.

  1. Approval of use may take a few days to respond, so please apply in advance.
  2. Please be sure to check the details of the application form.
  3. Please change the "● Library" part in the application form to the name of the library in the collection. In addition, there are three places in the application form.
  4. In the case of an organization, please apply with the name and title of the person in charge of the project.
  5. In the "Name of materials to be used", enter the title and billing symbol or bibliographic number.
  6. In addition, please confirm "guidance of procedure (PDF: 134KB)" for the details of procedure.

Application destination

 Please check the "Location" or "Usage Restrictions" column in "Detailed Information" on the "Document Details" screen. If the library name is listed in the library, please submit the attached “Application for Use of Posting / Broadcasting” to the library. For materials held by Chuo-toshokan, please contact the following inquiries. If the holding is "other institutions / individuals", please check "Usage Restrictions" and contact the relevant library.
