In June 2019, the "Law Concerning the Prevention of Child Abuse" was revised, and the prohibition of corporal punishment by parents was clearly stipulated.
The purpose of this amendment is not to punish parents who have committed corporal punishment, but to promote child-rearing without corporal punishment throughout society.
In October 2021, Yokohama City revised the Yokohama City Ordinance for Protecting Children from Abuse, stating that there is no act of corporal punishment or other acts that harm the dignity of children, and that all children can be respected as one person and grow healthy.

• Experiences of corporal punishment and rants become trauma, damaging the mind and body, and adversely affecting the child's growth and development.

Compared to the previous survey results, an increasing number of people believe that corporal punishment should never be done, and the effects of the revision of the "Law Concerning the Prevention of Child Abuse" in 2019 and the revision of the "Ordinance to Protect Children from Child Abuse" in 2019 and the "Yokohama City Children from Abuse" in 2021.
