This is a system that provides high school students with a scholarship of 60,000 yen per year (5,000 yen per month). If you are hired, you do not need to return the scholarship provided. In addition, the application for fiscal 2024 has ended.

About 2024 Yokohama High School Scholarship Students (Application End)

  • The submission of application documents for FY2024 has been closed on Friday, May 10, 2024.
  • The person in charge may contact the high school to check for incompleteness and contents of the application documents.
  • The results of recruitment and rejection will be notified through the high school around October 2024. Details will be announced on this website at a later date.
  • If there is a change in the student's situation (such as a change in Address, transfer or withdrawal, etc.), please contact the person in charge through the high school.

1 Amount paid

3 Qualifications for application

Those who fall under all of the following 1 to 4

  1. Parents living in Yokohama City
  2. Those who are enrolled in high school and are in good manners
    • High schools include "high schools for special needs schools" and "second half of secondary schools."
    • The high school where the student attends does not matter in Yokohama city, outside the city, public, or private.
  3. Those who have accomplishment of 3.50 or higher in the average value of all subjects and subjects in the previous fiscal year.
    • Those whose academic performance is less than 3.50 will not be accepted.
    • For new first-year students, the grades of all subjects taken at the end of the third grade of junior high school
      • It is not the result at the end of the school year, but the grades given at the end of the school year.
      • Junior high schools include junior high schools in special needs schools, first half of secondary schools, and second half of compulsory education School.
    • The average rating value should be rounded off to the third decimal place (3.495 or higher corresponds to 3.50 or higher, but 3.494 or less is 3.49 and will not be adopted).
  4. Those who have difficulty studying at high school due to financial reasons
    • Estimated: In the case of a family of four and has a household income of about 5 million yen
    • Those who have income exceeding the above amount may also be hired. In the case of a large number of applications, applicants will be accepted from those with severe living conditions.

4 Submission method and deadline for application documents

    • Documents to be submitted: ①Please submit a copy of the application form, (2) an application form for bank transfer payment, (3) Certificate of receipt of social security, (4) Certificate of Admission to the facility or commission, and (5) a copy of your disability certificate (paper or card) to City of Yokohama, Board of Education Secretariat.

    • The submission deadline is Friday, May 10, 2024 (must arrive). After submitting, please submit a copy of the recommendation request form and a copy of the scholarship application form to the high school immediately.
  2. Submission of income documents
    • Person who submits "documents which understand the situation such as income of family having the same livelihood" (only documents about municipal tax, prefectural tax, forest environmental tax in 2024), please submit to high school on paper.
    • The deadline for submission is until the date specified by the high school. The deadline for submission from high school to City of Yokohama, Board of Education Secretariat is Friday, June 21, 2024 (must arrive).

  • Application guidelines, etc. It is assumed that the PDF data will be printed on both sides in A4 size. The back side of the 5 forms (pages 5-14) and Attachment 3 (pages 19-20) is blank.
  • Do not use pencils, mechanical pencils, erasable ballpoint pen, correction tape, correction fluid, etc. when filling in. If you want to correct the error, draw a double line and rewrite it nearby. You don't need to change your password.

6 Others

  • The Yokohama City High School Scholarship can be paid together with high school enrollment support funds and high school student scholarship benefits. It is possible to pay together with other scholarships, but please make sure that the other system for which you are going to receive co-payments.
  • When submitting documents that show the status of income, etc. of a family member who has the same livelihood, write the school name, applicant's name, and document name on the envelope surface, tell the high school not to open it. Please submit.
  • As a general rule, there is no need to return this scholarship. However, if you lose your scholarship due to withdrawal or relocation of a guardian outside of Yokohama City, you will be refunded for the amount after the month following the event occurs.
  • If you wish to withdraw your application after submitting a scholarship, please submit a notice of withdrawal to City of Yokohama, Board of Education Secretariat.

For those who have been hired as Yokohama High School Scholarship Students in 2023

  • Yokohama City High School Scholarship students in 2023 and who are still enrolled in high school in 2024 will continue to be employed as scholarship students until the regular period of study (the year in which they originally graduated). Therefore, there is no need to submit the application documents again.
  • For those who are planning to continue hiring, we plan to contact the high school you are enrolled in from Yokohama City around June 2024.
  • From 2024, it will be paid directly to the scholarship student's account instead of going through the school. Around June 2024, we will request the submission of the account information of the transfer destination in addition to contacting those who plan to continue hiring.
  • Scholarships will be provided at the same time as new hires.
  • If you decline Yokohama City High School Scholarship student and wish to receive the scholarship again, please apply again based on the 2024 application guidelines. The application for 2024 has been closed on Friday, May 10th.
  • If you have been hired as a Yokohama High School Scholarship Student in 2023 and have changed your name or guardian's Address or name, or if you have transferred, leave of absence, or leave school, you will need to submit a transfer notice.
