Yokohama Science Frontier High School

Yokohama City opened the Yokohama Science Frontier High School, a full-time science and mathematics department in April 2009, marking the 150th anniversary of the opening of the port and the 120th anniversary of the municipal administration. With the aim of fostering human beings who can play an active role in the world by utilizing knowledge of advanced science and technology, we foster "inquiry skills," "creativity," "communication skills," and "independence" through "quest for knowledge through surprise and excitement."

While cultivating the spirit and attitude towards learning broadly and deeply.
Drawing out the potential originality of each student.
Developing logical thinking skills and keen sensibility to support Japan's future.
Utilizing cutting-edge scientific knowledge, skills, and skills.
We are a wide range of people who are active in the world.

The "Basic Plan" (established in December 2005) lists the following three roles as the school plays.

• Building the foundation for the formation of advanced science and technology.
• Promotion of human resource development through collaboration with industry and academia
• Promoting cooperation between small, middle, high, and university collaboration as a pioneer in educational reform

Yokohama Science Frontier High School will play a special role in leading Yokohama City High School as a whole, and will promote the development of human resources who will support Yokohama's future.

SSH is an abbreviation for Super Science High School. The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) has designated high schools that provide advanced science and mathematics education to provide advanced science and mathematics education. This is an initiative to support experiential and problem-solving learning from fiscal 2002. Yokohama Science Frontier High School has been evaluated for its cutting-edge initiatives, and has been designated as SSH for five years from 2010 to 2014 and for five years from 2015 to 2019 (FY2019).
