Overseas University Advancement Support Program (ATOP)

At Yokohama Municipal High School, we are implementing a program to support those who wish to enter overseas universities.

What is the Overseas University Advancement Support Program (ATOP)?

ATOP ~ Across the Ocean Program is a program that supports high school students who wish to enter overseas universities under the policy of developing human resources who can play an active role in global society. Select 20 high school students from the first year of high school who wish to enter an overseas university from a municipal high school, combine regular courses at the base school (Minami High School) and study at the enrolled school / home, and plan up to the third year of high school We aim to study systematically and continuously, and go to overseas universities. Students will learn about essays and discussion methods necessary to enter an overseas university while improving their English proficiency.

To participate in ATOP

In order to participate in ATOP, you must submit an entry sheet and receive a selection.

Target person

Those who apply to all three points below are eligible.

①Be a first-year student enrolled in Yokohama City High School.
②Have a willingness and willingness to continue to engage in school learning, base school training, English learning, and extracurricular activities with the aim of fostering a global mindset and realizing that career path for three years in high school.
③Have the basic English, academic, and action skills necessary to prepare for a global career path (selected based on English skills at the time of participating in the program and extracurricular activities at junior high school, etc.) 。

20 students in each grade

Selection schedule

Only first-year students will be selected.

Oh Primary selection
Submit an entry sheet until mid-October (submit to your school)
Simultaneous Period      Online English Test

Oh Secondary selection
around the middle of November    Interview (face-to-face)
※Only those who have passed the document screening can proceed to the second screening.

About attendance

Contents of the course

If you pass the ATOP selection, you will participate in the program for three years in high school after the opening ceremony of the first year in December.
The details of the program are as follows.

・Regular course (set of English course (90 minutes) and self-expression course (90 minutes))
※Conducted about once a month on Saturday at the base school (Minami High School)
・Intensive training during spring break (1st and 2nd graders only)
・English group lessons by level (only for 2nd and 3rd grade students, about 4 times a month, online)
・Individual counseling, application guidance, etc.
