What is a food poisoning prevention campaign?
In Yokohama City, August 1 is designated as "Citizen's Food Sanitation Day" and aims for food poisoning 0 (zero).
The Health and Welfare Center and each district's Food Sanitation Association carry out food poisoning prevention campaigns from July to November, including the Day of Food Sanitation. In addition to holding various food hygiene events in each ward, posters will be posted at cooperating member stores of each ward Food Sanitation Association, leaflets and enlightenment goods useful at home will be distributed. Please join us.

Points to prevent food poisoning caused by meat
Raw meat may have bacteria that cause food poisoning, such as Campylobacter and enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli O157.
To prevent food poisoning caused by meat, be aware of the following:
- When cooking meat, heat it well until the color of the center changes. In addition, special attention should be paid to processed meat that has been bred to soften or meat that has been tied or molded with chopped meat, as pathogens on the meat surface may spread inside the meat.
- Use cooking utensils for raw ingredients and raw meat. Or wash it thoroughly for each work and sterilize it with boiling water.
- For grilled meat and barbecue, prepare special tongs and chopsticks so that you do not touch raw meat with the chopsticks you eat.

- Raw meat is accompanied by bacteria that cause food poisoning such as Campylobacter and enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli, but not only the meat itself but also the gravy flowing out of the meat contains food poisoning bacteria. Be careful not to attach gravy to other foods and cooking utensils can help prevent food poisoning.
- Kitchen knives and cutting boards that cut raw meat are accompanied by food poisoning bacteria. Use cooking utensils for raw ingredients and raw meat. Or wash it thoroughly for each work and sterilize it with boiling water.
- Raw chickens can be accompanied by Campylobacter, a food poisoning bacterium, even fresh. When eating chicken, heat it to the center sufficiently.
