What is the food poisoning prevention campaign?
In Yokohama-shi, we set August 1 as "citizen food hygiene day" and aim at zero food poisoning.
Health and Welfare Center and each ward food hygiene association conduct a “food poisoning prevention campaign” from July to November, including citizens' food hygiene day. In addition to holding various food hygiene events in each ward, posters will be posted at cooperating member stores of each ward food hygiene association, and leaflets and educational goods useful at home will be distributed. Please come and join us.

Points to prevent food poisoning caused by meat
Raw meat may have food poisoning bacteria, such as Campylobacter and enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli O157.
To prevent food poisoning caused by meat, be aware of the following:
- When cooking meat, heat it firmly until the color of the center changes. In addition, special attention should be paid to processed meat that has been bred or formed by chopped meat to make it soft, as pathogenic bacteria on the meat surface may spread inside the meat.
- Use cooking utensils for raw ingredients and raw meat. Alternatively, wash well each work and sterilize it with boiling water.
- For grilled meat and barbecue, prepare special tongs and chopsticks so that you do not touch raw meat with the chopsticks you eat.

- Raw meat has bacteria that cause food poisoning, such as Campylobacter and enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli, but not only the meat itself but also the gravy flowing out of the meat contains food poisoning bacteria. Be careful not to adhere to other foods and cooking utensils can help prevent food poisoning.
- Kitchen knives and cutting boards that cut raw meat have food poisoning bacteria. Use cooking utensils for raw ingredients and raw meat. Alternatively, wash well each work and sterilize it with boiling water.
- Raw chicken may have Campylobacter, which is a food poisoning bacteria, even fresh. When you eat chicken, heat it to the center.
