Yokohama City Disaster Relief Nurse (Y nurse)

It is a nursing profession that works as a "medical rescue squad" based on disaster preparedness plan, Yokohama City, together with pre-registered doctors, pharmacists, and city officials in the event of a disaster such as a major earthquake. Activities include emergency medical treatment mainly for mildly ill people at evacuation centers in the city.

A qualified public health nurse, midwife, nurse, or associate nurse who lives or works in Yokohama, who can provide support activities at evacuation shelter (designated elementary and junior high schools) in each ward of Yokohama City in the event of a disaster. (However, in principle, those who are supposed to attend the workplace in the event of a disaster, such as working at a hospital, etc. are excluded.)

You can register in the following two ways. After applying, you will receive a Y Nurse registration card from the ward office you accepted.

Please fill out the registration application form with required items and submit it to Health and Welfare Center Health and Welfare Division, the ward where you wish to register by mail, mail or email.

Follow-up training is held once a year to enhance knowledge and skills.

●Registration promotion training…We perform basic knowledge and technique about disaster medical system of Yokohama-shi and role of Y nurse.
Those who have not registered with Y Nurse can also take the course.
●Follow-up training…For those registered as Y Nurse, we will provide training on the knowledge and skills necessary for nursing activities in the event of a disaster.
