About disaster medicine in Kohoku Ward
- After a major earthquake, clinics and pharmacies, which are available for medical treatment, will post “up flags” and “flags” of “in medical treatment” and “opening” and start medical treatment immediately.
- Depending on your severity, you can get treatment at an appropriate medical institution. The severity should be determined by yourself and the people around you, referring to the "Estimation of Judgment".
- At the same time, doctors, dentists, pharmacists, etc. form medical rescue squads that patrol each evacuation shelter and act according to the degree of damage caused by the disaster.
Severity | Estimated judgment | Medical institutions that can be consulted |
---|---|---|
Severe illness | The danger of life is imminent / possible danger of life | Disaster base hospital |
Moderate disease | There is no danger of life right now, but I can't walk | Emergency hospitals in the event of a disaster |
Mild illness | There is no danger of life and can walk | Nearby clinics |
Very mild | It can be determined that there is no need for medical treatment. | First aid provided by the inhabitants of the ward, self support community support |
There are two types of flags, red and yellow.
- The red flag is raised when disaster base hospitals, etc., which are responsible for accepting severely ill people, can provide medical treatment.
- The yellow flag is raised when the hospital is responsible for accepting moderate or mildly ill patients and the clinics is available for medical treatment.
- Depending on the clinics, treatment may not be possible due to its expertise.
■Pharmacies that can dispense prescriptions issued by medical institutions will post a "opening" (yellow) flag.

In medical institutions, treatment of severely ill patients is given priority to save as many lives as possible with limited people and resources.
Depending on the urgency and severity of the injured, etc., it will be necessary to determine the order of treatment and transportation, so please understand and cooperate.
Let's know the location of medical institutions in the area from around 2 days.
