What is Juvenile Dementia?
In 2020, a study conducted by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare showed that the number of patients per 100,000 population was 50.9, which is a relatively rare disease.
In addition to dementia such as Alzheimer's disease, some of the designated incurable disease, which is eligible for the medical expenses grant, include head trauma and degenerative diseases of the nervous system. Juvenile dementia can cause a variety of problems due to the age of onset.
First of all, accepting the diagnosis of juvenile dementia is a great burden for you and your family, but it will be an important process for the future. In addition, even if various services of The Long-term Care Insurance become available after diagnosis, day service (elderly day care) and others for the elderly tend to be hesitant due to differences in age among users.
In addition, many people are working and want to continue working with society by working after the onset of illness, so it is necessary to coordinate with the workplace. In the long term, it is necessary to take measures with a view to changes in life design.
Because there are fewer patients than dementia in old age, it is not possible to find a familiar person who can share the problem, and it is easy to have trouble in the family. There are many useful programs such as medical expenses subsidies and disability pension, so it is important to consult with medical and administrative professionals.
