International Exchange MOU was concluded with Los Angeles Port for decarbonization of ports <FY2022>
Last Updated June 8, 2023
Yokohama Port and Los Angeles Port have built a long-standing cooperative relationship since the signing of the Cooperation Trade Agreement (1969) and the Memorandum (1991).
Based on the spirit of cooperation, cooperation and sharing best practices in the sustainable operation of international ports, we concluded a memorandum of understanding on March 13, 2023 to strengthen cooperation on environmental measures and decarbonization, with the aim of further deepening the relationship between the two ports through exchange of opinions and other means.
Both ports are addressing common issues such as improving competitiveness in the global market, technological innovation in ports, establishing green shipping corridors, and digitalization. In particular, the Maritime Task Force at the India-India Summit (QUAD) is working to green and decarbonize the value chain of shipping as the main ports of both Japan and the United States.
