In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the following procedures for National Pension Plan (Kokumin Nenkin) can be submitted electronically (minor portal) or by mail. If you wish to apply by mail, please check the documents required for the notification in advance and enclose the required documents and mail it. Please note that if there are any omissions in required items or missing required documents, documents will be returned.

Procedures for National Pension Plan (Kokumin Nenkin) by electronic application using minor portal

If you have a My Number card, you can apply electronically from the minor portal. ※You can also apply electronically from your smartphone.

Preparation for use

1 Please prepare the password set when you received your "My Number Card" and My Number Card.
2. Access the minor portal and complete the user registration procedure.

Procedures for National Pension Plan (Kokumin Nenkin) by mail

Notification of change in type from National Pension Plan (Kokumin Nenkin) No. 3 Insured to No. 1 Insured
・A copy of a document certifying the date of the spouse's loss of Employees' Pension Insurance. In the case of a mutual aid association, a copy of a certificate showing the date of Retirement.

※If you have income in the previous year, the head of the household or spouse who lives together have income, you may not be able to receive exemption or postponement.
・In the case of leaving the company, a copy of the employment insurance Insured Person's Turnover Form, a copy of the employment insurance Eligibility Certificate, or a copy of the employment insurance Eligibility Notice with the date of leaving the company.

“National Pension Plan (Kokumin Nenkin) Premium Exemption / Payment Deferral Application” (outside site)


※The procedure to switch from National Pension Plan (Kokumin Nenkin) to Employee Pension Plan (Kosei Nenkin) or No. 3 insured is at your place of work, and you do not need to go to the ward office.
※Applications for special student payments, exemptions, and grace can be traced back to the past two years. (However, in principle, this excludes the period already paid.)

On May 1, 2020, special procedures have been launched in the event that it becomes difficult to pay National Pension Plan (Kokumin Nenkin) premiums due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Application for 2022 is possible. Please refer to the Japan pension Organization website (outside site) for details such as procedures.

There is a service that creates some notifications on the Internet. For details, please refer to the website of the Japan pension Organization. (Registration of using "Nenkin Net" is required.)
