September Respect for the Respect for the Respect for the Elderly Month

Last update date September 22, 2023

September is the Respect for the longevity of elderly people who have contributed to society for many years. On September 15, we visited Kanagawa Ward's two healthy elderly people over 100 years old.

One is Nobu Kono (112 years old), the oldest in the city. Currently, he is in a facility in Yokohama City, and participates in events at the facility, etc., interacts with the surrounding people, and at the dining room, together with other residents, He seems to be looking forward to eating himself. On the day, his son Yutaka (90 years old) also rushed to the facility by bicycle, and we heard about Nobu's daily life and old memories.

The other is Hiroko Inoue (104 years old), who is active as a painter. I visited a Western-style building in my home with an atelier. Even now, the paintings are drawn on a daily basis, and it seems that you can go on a bus alone and go to buy special art materials. The work "White Road (photo)" was also exhibited at the 101st Shuhakai Exhibition (Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum) this year, and he has already been involved in the next work. He talked about his thoughts on art and peace with living together's daughter and contemporary artist Shizuko Ohno.

Both of them were full of charm because they were older, and we were able to get their energy up to this point.
