Financial Results for FY2021 Water Works Bureau

Summary of FY2021 Yokohama City Water Supply Business Accounting and Industrial Water Supply Business Accounting Financial Statements (Preliminary figures)

Water Supply Business: Water tariff revenue increased by 4.4 billion yen and net income of 10 billion yen due to the revision of tariffs.

Water supply business accounting

(1) Increase in water rate revenue

Water tariff revenue in FY3 increased by 4.4 billion yen (6%) including tax compared to FY2, to 74 billion yen.
The amount of water used for housework decreased due to the expansion of teleworking and teleworking due to the impact of COVID-19 and other factors, the amount of water used for housework decreased, but water charge income increased by 2 billion yen (4%) due to the revision of rates. On the other hand, large-scale users, such as commercial facilities, increased water tariff revenues for business use increased by 2.4 billion yen (11%) due to a slight recovery in the amount of water used compared to FY2.

(2) Net income and increase in accumulated balance of funds

Net income increased by 3.5 billion yen compared to the previous fiscal year to 10 billion yen due to the revision of rates, thorough business reviews and postpone emergency businesses to carry out sustainable business operations even during the COVID-19 pandemic, and carried forward in repair costs related to aging pipe replacement costs.
Compared to the budget projected net income of 6.5 billion yen, we have improved by 3.5 billion yen.

(3) Utilization of corporate bonds

The balance of corporate bonds was 154.6 billion yen, mainly due to an increase in the ratio of corporate bonds from FY2 as a source of revenue for the ever-increasing facility renewal costs.

Industrial Water Supply Business Accounting

(1) Revenue from industrial water bills

Industrial water tariff revenue in FY3 increased by 0.2 billion yen (0.8%) including tax compared to FY2, to 2.97 billion yen.

(2) Net income

Net income increased by ¥0.6 billion from the previous fiscal year to ¥77 billion.

(3) Utilization of corporate bonds

The balance of corporate bonds was 3.33 billion yen due to an increase in the ratio of corporate bonds from FY2.

(Reference) Main initiatives in the water supply business

Transition from usage to calibrate fee structure

In order to stably deliver safe and secure tap water to citizens in the future, we have raised water rates by an average of 12% (revised on July 1, 2021).
The basic water volume has been abolished, and the basic fee set for each meter diameter and the metered fee according to the amount of water used, making it an easy-to-understand fee system.

What is the meter diameter?

Represents the inner diameter of the connection part of the water meter.

Redevelopment of Nishiya Water Purification Plant from an environmental perspective

The Nishiya Water Purification Plant is working on redevelopment of water purification treatment facilities and wastewater treatment facilities, and improvement of headraces in order to respond to the deterioration of water quality and the treatment of the entire amount of water rights water rights, along with the earthquake resistance of filter ponds.
By enabling the treatment of the entire amount of water rights, the water supply area from the natural water treatment plant will be expanded from 39% to 51%, and environmental effects such as reduction of energy consumption are expected.
