[Press Release] 2022 Fire and Emergency Preparedness (Bulletin)

①The cause of the fire was "tobacco" instead of "arson (including suspicion)" which ranked first in a row since 1985, "tobacco" was the largest.
・The total number of fires was 638, which was the second smallest in the past 10 years after 624 in 2020, while the number and percentage of electric fires in all fires and residential fires was the highest ever.
・The total number of deaths was 11 (excluding arson suicide), which was the smallest in the past 10 years, but all were elderly.

②The number of emergency services has exceeded 240,000, a record high along with transport personnel.
・The number of emergency participations was 244,086, an increase of 39,659 (19.4%) from the previous year, exceeding the highest ever in 2019, exceeding the highest ever.
・The number of transport personnel was 192,173, an increase of 21,152 (12.4%) from the previous year, exceeding 9,527 from 2019, the highest number ever. Looking at the ratio of transport personnel by age, 56.4% of the elderly, and 51.7% were moderate or higher by degree of injury and illness.
