Treatment of childhood cancer (general term for various cancers between the ages of 0 and 15) is long-term to check for recurrence and complications after repeated long-term hospitalization, hospitalization and discharge, and after certain treatments are completed. Regular outpatient visits are required, which is a heavy burden for growing children.
According to an interim summary of a questionnaire survey for parents of pediatric cancer patients in Yokohama City, parents are concerned about illness and concerns about their illness, as well as "anxiety about mental and physical growth and development." , "Offices to interact with friends of the same generation of children" and "Securing places for children other than homes."
In addition, children with childhood cancer may suffer from changes in appearance, such as hair loss and swelling, as side effects of cancer treatment, and may be worried about changes in appearance.
Since childhood cancer patients need a place for interaction that supports their hearts without worrying about their appearance, we will try a new metaverse exchange that is not face-to-face.
We start exchange support of pediatric cancer patient by metaverse (PDF: 367KB)
