Visiting Yokohama to bloom in the May issue "Garden Necklace Yokohama 2023"! On-site report

"Garden Necklace Yokohama" tells Yokohama of the coming of spring. In line with the opening, I went to this year's "Promotion Spot". (Photos are at the time of the opening.)

Last update date May 1, 2023

To a walk course where you can enjoy flower relay

Garden Necklace Yokohama offers several walking courses where you can enjoy the scenery of Yokohama while watching the flowers. The official guidebook introduces various walking courses in various parts of the city, such as the Yamashita / Kannai area, Minatomirai / Basyamichi area, and Shin-Yokohama area. Both are easy walking paths that can be walked in about 30 minutes to 1 hour. This time, I took a walk course in the Motomachi and Yamate area.

※The official guidebook can be downloaded from the Garden Necklace Yokohama official website, and is distributed at tourist information centers.

Yamashita Park

This park was opened in 1930 (Showa 5), representing Yokohama. It was built by reclaiming debris from the Great Kanto Earthquake. You can enjoy the transition of cherry blossoms, tulips, roses and spring flowers along with the blue sky, the sea, and the unique scenery of Yokohama's unique port. Walking surrounded by flowers in the season when the sky is beautiful, you will feel excited.

This year, we have used an AI camera in the "Future Rose Garden" to check the congestion situation in the garden during the Garden Necklace Yokohama 2023 on the website. It will be updated every 10 minutes, so be sure to check it out when you arrive and enjoy the roses slowly.

Harbor View Park (Minato-no-Mieru Oka Koen)

A park with a beautiful view of the port and Yokohama Bay Bridge spreading below from the observatory. The rose garden in the park was opened to the public in 1991 to commemorate the establishment of the city flower "Rose". This area was a foreign settlement at the time of the opening of the port, so you can enjoy the quaint harmony of the Western-style building and roses.

Motomachi Park

A green park in Yamate-District. There are many exotic spots such as Yamate 234 Ban-Kan, Ehrismann Residence and Berrick Hall in the Yamatenishi Western-style building. The hall is cool, and the spacious mansion has healed the fatigue.
You can visit the facility free of charge, so why not stop by for a while?

Yamate Italian Garden

In this area, it is called "Italy Mountain" because the Italian Consulate was set up from 1880 (Meiji 13) to 1886 (Meiji 19).
This park is designed with water and flower beds arranged geometrically, imitating the garden style seen in Italy.
It has been renewed under the theme of "Roses and Shining Fountain Garden" and has become a new place for roses.

There was relatively little difference in elevation, and we arrived at Ishikawacho Station in about 1 hour and 30 minutes.
In a little sweaty weather, I walked comfortably in the refreshing breeze and it was a good exercise.
At the beginning of the shooting, it was a beautiful time for cherry blossoms, but a relay of tulips, roses and flowers will continue.

The best time to see roses in May.
Garden Necklace Yokohama 2023 holds Yokohama Rose Week from May 3 (Wednesday / holiday) to Sunday, June 11th.
A good season when the early summer sunshine creates flowers brilliantly. Please go out for a walk to enjoy the beautiful blooming flowers while enjoying the scent of the city's flower "rose".

Flowering Rally, it has begun.

This year, with the cooperation of many organizations and companies, we are conducting a “Flowering Rally”.
Get electronic stamps around spots where you can enjoy flowers and spots where you can eat delicious gourmet food. If you collect stamps, you will win meal tickets and hotel accommodation tickets by lot.
There are 140 stamp points (as of April 20) including British House Yokohama.

Yokohama-shi British House Yokohama

It was built in 1937 (Showa 37) as the British Consul General's residence. It is a two-story reinforced concrete building, with a large site and a construction scale, and was ranked high among the consular residences in East Asia.
In the English rose garden in front of the museum, seasonal flowers are blooming pretty. In May, about 150 species and 800 roses are in full bloom.

You can apply for stamps, including the participation prize (first 3,000 people) where you can get garden bear goods, three bud courses, five-minute blooming courses, and 10 full bloom courses. It is a handy rally that can be collected as soon as you walk a little, and will be held until June 11th.

We look forward to your participation and application!
