March issue March 18 Visit report on Shin-Yokohama Station on the Sotetsu/Tokyu Shin-Yokohama Line

The Sotetsu Line "Hazawa Yokohama National University Station" and "Hiyoshi Station" on the Toukyu Toyoko Line / Meguro Line will be connected to Saturday, March 18 via the newly installed Shin-Yokohama Station and Shin-Tsunashima Station". This time, we visited "Shin-Yokohama Station", which is the node of both lines.

Last update date March 1, 2023

Overview of Shin-Yokohama Station on the Sotetsu/Tokyu Shin-Yokohama Line

There are two north-south ticket gates on the first basement floor, between which there is a passage leading to Shin-Yokohama Station of the municipal subway. The platform for getting on and off the train is located on the 4th basement floor, and operates on two platforms (four lines as the line). The elevator to the platform is only inside the south ticket gate, so if you are using it, please enter from the south ticket gate.
One of the highlights of the opening of the new station is the smooth transfer to the Shinkansen line. "Exit 5A" has an escalator that goes directly to the "Pedestrian Deck (a connecting passage to JR Shin-Yokohama Station, bus terminal, station building, etc.)", so you can transfer smoothly.

Transfer to the Shinkansen is smooth by using the exit 5A.

It's rare in Japan! Stations jointly managed by the two companies

Shin-Yokohama Station is jointly managed by Soutetsu Line and Tokyu Corporation.
※The service is managed by Tokyu Corporation.
Since the north ticket gate and the south ticket gates are managed by the respective operators, the design and other designs are slightly different. Please enjoy each atmosphere as well.

A trial run was taking place at the home.

Lines 1 and 2 are in the direction of Nishiya / Futamatagawa, and lines 3 and 4 are for Hiyoshi / Shibuya / Meguro (Lines 2 and 3 share the tracks), and test-run vehicles enter line 4 during the tour. I have come. I'm looking forward to seeing the various vehicles on many routes in addition to the two businesses.

If you look at the vehicle that actually runs on the tracks, you will get excited.

Tunnels in each direction have several structural differences, such as tracks and traffic lights, depending on the differences in vehicles entering and the convenience of operation. For example, the tunnel in the direction of Nishiya and Futamatagawa is slightly large. This is because it is assumed that a slightly larger JR vehicle will enter in an emergency.

The person in charge of Tokyu Corporation, who provided us this time, said, "Opening is a goal and a start. After the opening, the next stage will begin again. "It was impressive that he talked with a reliable gaze for the future.
It was a tour of the new station where the flow of people changed and a new life and culture would be born again in Yokohama.
