Sankeien is a Japanese garden with many historically valuable buildings, including important cultural properties and tangible cultural properties designated by Yokohama City, and is promoting the preservation of cultural properties to future generations in good condition. . IKEA Kohoku has proposed offering 127 LED bulbs to Sankeien. LED bulbs have the effect of saving energy to reduce costs and reducing the environmental burden, such as reducing CO2 emissions. In addition, since the light of LED bulbs does not contain ultraviolet rays, it has the effect of not damaging cultural properties, and it was an advantage in both economic and cultural property protection. At the opportunity of the "Nordic Art Exhibition" held at the park, a rest area using the company's Scandinavian furniture was set up in gassho-style buildings, etc., creating a space where visitors could relax and enjoy cultural arts.
Concluded an "Collaboration Agreement for a Society in Harmony with the Environment" between IKEA Kohoku and Yokohama.
In Yokohama City, we are implementing policies aimed at curbing global warming and realizing a sustainable society. In 2015, we concluded a partnership agreement with IKEA Kohoku for a society in harmony with the environment. We are promoting energy-saving measures. As part of this initiative, the Yokohama Akari Project is engaged in activities to promote the spread of LED bulbs with high energy efficiency as an initiative to reduce CO2 emitted from households. Co-creation with Sankeien has been a good example of promoting the spread of LED bulbs, an energy-saving activity familiar to visitors.
