Since the Great East Japan Earthquake, BCPs (Business Continuity Plan) is being formulated nationwide in order to quickly secure personnel, materials, equipment, and information, etc. in the event of a disaster where business functions are deteriorating. Yokohama City has the largest number of sewerage assets in government ordinance-designated cities nationwide, and the challenge was how to return quickly to minimize the impact on citizens' lives in the event of a disaster. Among them, Zenrin Co., Ltd. and Yokohama City have concluded an "Agreement to Building Cooperation in the Event of a Disaster". After that, utilizing the company's map creation know-how and the experience of the Yokohama City Sewerage Business, we developed a prototype system that can quickly investigate damage information on sewer pipes in the event of a large-scale disaster.

Efficiency of public infrastructure management by utilizing private assets and technologies

In the "Sewer pipe field survey training assuming a disaster", which was conducted using this system, the time from drafting a survey plan to conducting on-site surveys and gathering information was reduced to half the previous one. In addition, it is thought that work can be carried out promptly even when receiving support from staff from other cities that do not have a sense of land, and it is expected that it will lead to early disaster recovery. This initiative was awarded the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Award (Circulating Michi Sewerage Prize) as an advanced example nationwide.
