Last Updated August 31, 2022
The Yokohama Industrial Technology Support Center has been implementing initiatives to make the children who will lead the future aware of the joy of science, despite the fact that young people are away from science and technology and science.
This page will inform you of the program implemented by the Yokohama Industrial Technology Support Center at Kanagawa Science Summer hosted by Kanagawa Prefecture.
We look forward to your participation.

2022 (21st) Kanagawa Science Summer Implementation Report
On August 16, 2022 (Tuesday), the Yokohama Industrial Technology Support Center held a "Let's see sound using salt!" We received a large number of applications for the capacity of 18 people, but due to infection prevention measures and space limitations, we decided to draw lots. I'm sorry for those who were unable to participate.
On the day, I first learned about sound resonance, and then each one made a flute using straws and plastic bottles. At first, I had a hard time making a sound, but gradually I was able to grasp the tricks and blow well. When I whistled toward the salt on black vinyl, I was able to observe the salt vibrating and jumping. I guess there were many discoveries, such as changing the length of the straw flute to listen to the sound, observing how salt jumps.
This center was the first science summer in three years, and it was a fun day to see the children's energetic appearance after a long absence. .
I learned about the wave of sound.
Let's make a whistle with a straw!
Do you see the sound?

A strict lottery by the Director of the Industrial Technology Support Center
"Let's see the sound with salt!" A lottery was held for the participants.
There were applications that exceeded the capacity, so a strict lottery was conducted.
The lottery results were notified by e-mail on August 3 (Wednesday).
Thank you very much for your participation.
Please note that it may be canceled depending on the situation of COVID-19.
In case of cancellation, we will notify the participants by e-mail.
Let's see the sound using salt!

High and low sounds, in this experience, sound is the vibration of the air, and the vibration is the vibration of the membrane.
We make a whistle with a straw, and see how the air vibration changes depending on the way the air blows, the resonance changes depending on the sound, and the way the salt grains bounce changes.

---|---|---|
2021 | Paper Tower Challenge | The event was canceled due to the declaration of a state of emergency following the spread of COVID-19. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to those who applied. |
2019 | I made a bridge with 15 sheets of paper and glue, and with just such a rule, I freely thought about how much weight I could withstand, worked with the team, and made a bridge that could withstand weight than any team. The theme was to enhance the imagination of manufacturing, such as finding and improving problems using ideas as a form. | |
2018 | Mini Soli Challenge! | Be sure to place the pilot to put on the prepared sled somewhere and slide instead of rolling. Based on these rules, I freely came up with ideas, worked together as a team, and made sleds that slip faster than any team to enhance the imagination of manufacturing. |
2017 | Camera obscra Let's make it! | The theme was to learn about the nature of light, the work of mirrors and lenses, and the basic principles of cameras while producing camera obscles using cylinders, mirrors and lenses. |
2016 | Camera obscra Let's make it! | The theme was to learn about the nature of light, the work of mirrors and lenses, and the basic principles of cameras while producing camera obscles using cylinders, mirrors and lenses. |
2015 | A Galileo thermometer Let's make it! | A small bottle filled with beads of various sizes to make a float, and a Galileo thermometer that floats and sinks due to changes in temperature. Through the work, I learned the relationship between the density and temperature of matter. |
2014 | A Galileo thermometer Let's make it! | The theme was to learn about the relationship between the density and temperature of water and other substances while producing a Galileo thermometer that floats and sinks due to changes in temperature in a small bottle with beads of various sizes. |
2013 | Light and Color A mysterious relationship | The theme was to observe the spectroscopy of light using aprisms made of agar, and to learn about the close relationship between light and color while creating UV checkers using special paints that color when exposed to sunlight. |
2012 | A great shape of living things | Using familiar things such as origami and plant leaves, the theme was to learn about the "wateryness" that flips water, and to realize the fun of natural sciences. |
2011 | With the power of color | The theme was to create solar cells using the colored water of familiar plants, to have fun thinking about electricity, and to have children realize the fun of science. |
