Overview
The introduction of the beef traceability system provides information on production and distribution.
Regarding the beef traceability system, following the outbreak of BSE in Japan in September 2001, with the aim of ensuring consumer confidence in the safety of domestic beef, "Information for individual identification of cattle Special Measures Concerning Management and Communication ”has been enacted.
Under this law, all cattle are given a 10-digit individual identification number, and have introduced a "livestock identification system" that accumulates information such as the date of birth, male and female, individual identification number of mother cattle, breeding ground and breeders between birth and livestock, transfer and transfer date and date of death.
