What is the Minato Color Plan?
The unique scenery of Yokohama's port has been loved not only by citizens but also by many people who visit this port.
The Minato Color Plan is an expert in various fields based on the current status survey and awareness surveys of the port, in order to make Yokohama Port more unique, attractive and vibrant by adding ideas and directing to the colors of the port. It was enacted after the deliberations of the Minato Color Planning Committee, which is made up of port officials. At present, the Minato Color Plan divides Yokohama Port into six zones and three districts, and creates a color scheme corresponding to each zone and each district.
The "Minato Color Plan" is applied in principle to all buildings and structures in the entire Yokohama Port (Yokohama Port harbor area and especially designated areas).
Since its establishment in 1988, many buildings have colored the port so far.
Basic Policy of the Plan
It will be a color plan that will feel vibrancy and moisture and will further enhance the appeal of Yokohama Port.
We will create an attractive landscape for citizens and make it proud and familiarity.
We will strive to create a safe and comfortable site environment for people working in ports.
For both inside and outside the country visiting Yokohama Port, we will feel the uniqueness of Yokohama Port.
Considering the harbor function, landscape characteristics and historical characteristics, a color plan will be used to make Yokohama Port harmonious.
Yokohama Port will be a color plan for the 21st century.
About Minato color plan prior consultation
When you perform new construction, extension or remodeling of buildings and structures in Minato color planning area, please talk with Port and Harbor Bureau by "Minato color plan prior consultation book".
In the following cases, consultation is not required.
- Extension, renovation or painting without changing the appearance of the structure
- Repairs, remodeling or color change that changes the appearance of the structure, with a total found area of the construction part pertaining to the change in appearance is less than 10 square meters
Application styles of Minato Color Plan Prior Consultation Form
Please consult with the Port and Harbor Administration Division in advance by telephone, next agency, e-mail, etc. before submitting the notification. This submission will be made after confirmation of the contents of the submitted document (provisional submission).
