Appropriate use and storage of kerosene

Last update date February 18, 2022

To handle kerosene safely

  • When transporting or storing kerosene, it is necessary to store it in a container that conforms to the standards stipulated by the Fire Service Law.
  • Never put gasoline or the like in a container exclusively for kerosene. The container may deteriorate, deformed, and leak.
  • When lubricating kerosene into a stove, etc., be sure to turn off the stove once before lubricating.
  • Store in a dark place that is not exposed to direct sunlight.
  • Do not place it in places that hinder evacuation, such as entrances, stairs, or corridors.
  • Store in a place away from the fire, such as a stove or stove, to prevent fire.
  • The flammable vapor generated from kerosene may be ignited by fire or static electricity. Close the lid tightly so that steam does not leak out of the kerosene container.

About kerosene leakage accident from kerosene polyethylene cans

In November 2006, while carrying 20 liters of kerosene polyethylene cans were transported in the trunk of an automatic car, and an accident occurred in which kerosene leaked from the container's storage port.
In the container, the convex screws did not adhere to the specified specifications (the height is insufficient), so the convex thread did not adhere to the packing part of the concave screw, and the packing did not work.
