Appropriate use and storage of kerosene
Last Updated February 18, 2022
To ensure safe handling of kerosene
- When transporting or storing kerosene, it is necessary to store it in a container that conforms to the standards stipulated by the Fire Service Law.
- Never put gasoline or the like in the container dedicated to kerosene. The container may deteriorate, deform, and leak.
- When refueling kerosene into a stove, etc., be sure to turn off the stove, etc. before refueling.
- Store in a dark place that is not exposed to direct sunlight.
- Do not place them in places that hinder evacuation, such as entrances, stairs, corridors, etc.
- To prevent ignition, store it in a place away from fire such as a stove or stove.
- Flammable vapors generated from kerosene can be ignited by fire or static electricity. Close the lid tightly so that steam does not leak out of the kerosene container.

About kerosene leak accident from polyethylene cans for kerosene
In November 2006, a 20-liter polyethylene can for kerosene was transported in the trunk of a car, and an accident occurred in which kerosene leaked from the storage port of the container.
In the container, the convex screw part of the storage port did not meet the specified specifications (not high), so the convex screw did not adhere to the packing part of the convex screw, and the packing did not function.
