Cliff Selection Criteria

Last update date May 20, 2021

Standards for selecting target areas to issue evacuation warning with the announcement of "earth and sand disaster alert information"

[Criteria for selection of target area]
Based on the survey results of cliffs conducted by geological experts, if a landslide occurs, it would cause significant damage to houses.
We extracted potential cliffs (*1) and selected the surrounding area as the evacuation warning area.

(* Note 1) When a landslide occurs, damage such as damage to buildings near the cliff and the inflow of earth and sand from the window glass will occur.
In some cases, damage to human life is assumed.

Specifically,

○Analysis of factors such as landslides, the amount of earth and sand when the cliff collapses, and the magnitude of damage to buildings close to the cliff.

◆What are the causes of cliff collapse?

◆What is the amount of earth and sand when a cliff collapses?
When a landslide occurs, the amount of soil that slides down from the slope or falls in a lump is classified according to size.

◆What is the magnitude of damage to buildings close to cliffs?
In the event of a landslide, whether the collapsed sediment or the like reaches the house is classified according to the size of the damage.

○Check the presence or absence of houses that may cause damage if a landslide occurs, and the distance between the cliff and the building.
Depending on the height and gradient of the cliff, the area affected by the landslide is further set, and within the affected area, the houses are within the affected area.
Check if there is any.
