Support for people requiring assistance during a disaster
Last Updated August 21, 2024
In the event of a major disaster, some people find it difficult to evacuate on their own.
Such people in need of assistance during a disaster need help from the people around them in case of emergency.
At the ward office, you can provide a list of people requiring assistance owned by the government to local supporters so that they can be used to support people requiring assistance during a local disaster.
First, let's talk about how to support people in need of assistance in the community.
Definition of people requiring assistance during a disaster and content of support
●○●What are those who need assistance during a disaster?●○●
・It is said that those who need assistance in taking a series of actions in the event of a disaster, such as evacuating to a safe place, in order to quickly and accurately grasp the necessary information and protect themselves from disasters.
・In general, the elderly, disabled, infants, pregnant women, foreigners, etc.

●○●Why do you need assistance?●○●
In the past large-scale disasters such as the Great East Japan Earthquake, many people who needed assistance were affected.
On the other hand, many trapped people, such as buildings, were rescued by helping each other.
In the event of a disaster, everyone can be affected, while on the other hand, they can go to the helper.
In order to minimize the damage caused by disasters, it is necessary to create a daily face-to-face relationship in the area and create a supportive mechanism.
●○●What are the activities performed by the community?●○●
In normal times, watch over and call out, and create a relationship where you can see your face from normal times.
In the event of a disaster, call out to safety confirmation and share that information locally.
In addition, if there is a person who needs evacuation, provide evacuation support as much as possible.
The support of people requiring assistance in the event of a disaster is not borne by individuals. Consider supporting the extent possible throughout the region (such as contacting evacuation shelter or rescue squads).
