In evacuation shelter, the evacuation shelter Steering Committee, which is comprised of local communities, schools and ward offices, is responsible for maintaining safe and orderly evacuation and rescue using disaster prevention equipment and materials.

1.Major activities in the event of a disaster

(1) Release keys and building safety check
(2) Establishment of evacuation centers, evacuation area allocation and guidance
(3) First aid from injured, support for elderly and disabled persons
(4) Rescue using family safety confirmation and disaster prevention equipment
(5) Establishment of temporary toilet and distribution of food and relief supplies

2.Main activities during normal times

(1) Preparation of evacuation site operation manual
(2) Handling training on disaster prevention equipment and materials and holding disaster prevention workshops
(3) Implementing the disaster drill and Training of Disaster Prevention Leaders

4.Local disaster prevention activity incentive subsidy

In order to encourage the voluntary activities of the evacuation shelter Steering Committee, which consists of local communities, schools, and governments, and to facilitate the operation of evacuation shelter in the event of a disaster, the Yokohama City Regional Disaster Prevention Activity Encouragement Grant (hereinafter referred to as “Subsidies”).

About training in evacuation shelter

evacuation shelter has designated elementary and junior high schools as evacuation sites in the event of an earthquake.
Tsuzuki Ward   has 27 bases, and the Steering Committee of each site conducts evacuation shelter training for local residents to participate.
 Please join us as an opportunity to confirm the points of evacuation to an evacuation center (evacuation shelter).
In addition, please take this opportunity to check stockpiling at each home such as emergency take-out bags and prevention of furniture from falling and falling.
In order to minimize the damage caused by the earthquake, it is important for residents, communities, and the government to enhance disaster response capabilities and cooperate.
In order to protect yourself and your family from a disaster, it is important for each person to prepare in advance and make decisions and actions at the time of the disaster.
In addition, local communication is important on a daily basis in order for helping each other and evacuation shelter to function well.
 In the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake in January 1995 and the Niigata-ken Chuetsu-oki Earthquake in July 2007, many people were rescued from collapsed houses that collapsed with the help of neighbors.
 In order to prepare for disasters, the Yokohama City Hall and Tsuzuki Ward   offices hope to further expand these efforts and improve local disaster prevention capabilities.

Each evacuation shelter provides training on the establishment and operation of evacuation centers. The schedule and content of the training are determined sequentially at each site.
 (Example) Base establishment training, gathering training, evacuees reception, information transmission training, rescue equipment handling training, living equipment handling training, supply of hot meals training, supplies acceptance and distribution training, emergency water supply training, measures for people requiring assistance, etc.
