Exchange with Shimokawa-cho, Hokkaido

In 2011, the Shimokawacho, Totsuka-ku, and the Totsuka Ward Office concluded a friendship exchange agreement with Totsuka Ward and Shimokawa-cho, Hokkaido, in order to further deepen and cooperate with each other.
Every year, we engage in exchanges centered on local activities, such as youth exchanges that accept elementary school students with each other, and holding workshops using thinned wood from Shimokawacho at eco events.

The community is the main body, and we exchange elementary school students with each other every year.
In summer, children from Shimokawa-cho visit Totsuka to visit facilities engaged in environmental activities and experience pear picking, and in winter, children from Tozuka go to Shimokawacho to visit woody biomass facilities, ski, and shiitake hunting. I am doing.

As part of the efforts of the Friendship Exchange Agreement, we concluded the "Totsuka no Mori" agreement in 2013.
This agreement provides naming rights (naming rights) as "Totsuka no Mori" in a part of Shimokawa-cho-owned forest to raise mutual environmental awareness.
At the time of the conclusion of the agreement, five larch trees were planted in "Totsuka no Mori" in response to the carbon offset that was undertaken at five local events in the city in 2012.
