What is a specific measuring instrument?

"Specific measuring instruments" specified by the Measurement Law

There are a variety of measuring instruments around us. According to the Measurement Law, among measuring instruments that are used for weighing in transactions or certifications, or are mainly used for the lives of general consumers, to ensure proper weighing. A total of 18 types of "specified measuring instruments" (PDF: 160KB) have been established as those that need to determine standards for instrumental differences.

"Specific measuring instruments" are subject to various regulations by the Measurement Law, and the following marks are marked as proof of conformity with the required standards.

"Certification" means that public institutions such as the national or prefectural governments inspect whether their performance and structure conform to the standards stipulated by the Measurement Law at the stage of manufacturing or repair of a "specified measuring instrument". is. Some "certifications" have a validity period depending on the type of "specific measuring instrument".
(The "Standard Compliance Seal" is the same as the legal effect of the "certification seal")

Periodic Inspection Seal

The scales used for transactions and certifications must be marked with a certification seal, and must undergo periodic inspections every two years.
Paste the "Scale" that has passed the periodic inspection.

Seal of home measuring instrument

"Home-use" kitchen meters and health meters are assumed to be used for weighing cooking materials and weighing weight measurements at home. Therefore, the standard for "home use" is looser than the "certification" pass standard.
Household scales cannot be used for transactions and certifications.

"Equipment inspection" refers to inspect whether the performance of the vehicle containing taxi meters and tires conforms to the standards stipulated by laws and regulations.
